Apps on the App Store

I’m hoping to restore the Obliquely Productive to the app store during 2021. At the moment it’s not for sale because I’ve not kept up with all the updates that Apple have made to iPhone / iPad operating system. If you miss the app – or are a bit frustrated that your existing copy has gone a bit chunky – send me a message of encouragement. If I know people are keen to have the app restored, it’s added motivation to get it sorted and back on the store.

The Paragraft app is not for sale and I think it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to find the time to recreate a more modern version of this app. When it first existed it was hard to do rich text on the iPhone or iPad. But now even the stock Apple apps do some of what Paragraft made easy. I miss using the app as, for me, it had some really neat features. So, maybe, one day. But not any time soon.

Is It Working Yet? hasn’t been on sale for a while. And, again, I think this is one that may be retired permanently.

Is It Working Yet?

Changing habits can be hard, whether that’s giving up old (and bad) ones or putting in place new (and good) ones.

Is It Working Yet? supports you in your change projects by:

  • providing gentle reminders to check in on whether you change goal is working or not
  • helping you track progress at shifting your habit.

Is It Working Yet?
Habitually helpful support for personal change.

Tour

Perhaps you want to cut back on the coffee because you’ve got a hunch you’ll feel a whole lot better if you do.

If you manage to cut out the coffee and you do feel better, then tap on Yes and watch the green part of your pie chart grow.

A pie chart shows your progress to date. In the image, ‘check in’ is open. You just tap to check in.

If you double tap the pie chart, the display will flip to show you a history of your check ins.

Your best chain of Yes check ins is highlighted.

If you are all up to date then you can do an early check in. Your best chain of Yes check ins is highlighted.

You don’t need to go into the app in order to check in. The app will generate notifications on a schedule that you choose. So long as you’ve given the app permission then you can even get notifications when your device is locked.

There is no need to open up the app to check in. If you want to just indicate a Yes or a No then simply slide and tap.

working-4Next time you open the app, your progress log will reflect all the check ins that took place via a notification, either from the lock screen or from a notification that appears on the home screen or in another app.

Check in prompts appear as notifications - no need to go into the app to check in.

You can slide down the notification to check in.

The Yes and No option are available when checking in via a notification.

A red circle on the progress log icon indicates the app has a log message that you’ve not yet read. Tap the icon to access a report on your progress.

The report screen gives you more detail on your progress to date. You can share progress via Mail, Messages, Facebook or Twitter. You can also add your own personal log entries.

Each goal has its own success bar, as indicated on the report screen. This can be modified depending on the goal. You can also decide the schedule for check ins.

Goal catalogue

The app comes with a catalogue of built in goals. You can use the goal catalogue as a source of ideas, adapt them to your own purpose, or create completely new goals from scratch.

Can I use it on my device?

‘Is It Working Yet?’ will work on:

  • iPhone – iOS version 8.0 or later
  • iPod Touch –  iOS version 8.0 or later
  • iPad –  iOS version 8.0 or later

If your device is too old to run iOS 8.0 then I’m afraid you’re out of luck. ‘Is It Working Yet?’ depends on some of the new features introduced in iOS 8.0 in order to provide notifications when the app is not running.
